Customer service issues with local government offices are causing severe distress for recently bereaved families.
That's according to local recently bereaved man, John Brady, after seeking to close his fathers affairs following his death.
The Leitrim resident reported major difficulty in making contact with the County Registration offices in Carrick on Shannon, Longford, Athlone and Sligo to register the death.
He said the issue was repeated on contacting the offices of the Department of Social Protection to cancel his father's pension and carer's allowance.
According to John, he spent hours on hold waiting for members of staff, only to be told he was through to the wrong office and transferred again.
Speaking to the Joe Finnegan Show today, he believes this treatment of recently bereaved families is unacceptable:
