A communications company has failed in it's bid to overturn the refusal of planning permission for a telecom mast in a North Longford Town.
Eircom Limited had applied to Longford County Council to construct the 20 metre high lattice mast at Barrack Lane in Granard.
The structure would have supported antennae, dishes and associated transmission equipment.
The plans were refused by local planners in 2021, with an appeal lodged shortly after.
The higher planning body this week upheld the refusal of the application citing three main issues.
These included the development's proximity to an existing mast and the highly visible nature of the structure.
An Bord Pleanála described the plans as a 'haphazard and piecemeal approach to providing the required coverage' to the area.
