Several people have applied to become the new postmaster of Roscommon post office in its current historic building, according to a Fianna Fáil senator. There was a public backlash after An Post planned to move from its current premises on The Square to a new location.
It later decided the business would continue to operate there - but it would be run by a new postmaster and not An Post. Senator Eugene Murphy says there has been a lot of interest in the job.
