The Seanad will debate a bill proposing time off for women who suffer pregnancy loss today.
The legislation sought by the Labour Party would allow women to access up to 20 days paid leave in the case of early miscarriage and up to 10 days leave when accessing reproductive health treatments, such as IVF.
The bill seeks to end the need for those affected to take annual or unpaid leave to grieve, attend relevant appointments, or receive treatment where necessary.
Labour Senator Marie Sherlock says it is important that a new form of leave is offered in these cases.
