Bishop Francis Duffy will be installed as the Archbishop of Tuam today.
The Cavan native succeeds Archbishop Michael Neary, who served in the role for the past 26 years.
Francis Duffy was appointed as Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise in July of 2013 and said he was surprised and humbled to take up a new role in the west of Ireland.
The Templeport native also taught at Saint Patrick's College, Cavan, and was appointed principal of Fatima and Felim's Secondary School, Ballinamore, Co Leitrim in 1996.
The installation will take place today in the Cathedral of the Assumption, Tuam, during the celebration of Mass at 2.30 pm.
The congregation will be limited due to covid-19 and can be watched live via the Tuam parish webcam.
