The Bishop of Achonry says he is hopeful that the government will give serious consideration to allowing masses take place.

All indoor gatherings are not permitted under Level 3 restrictions, and religious services have once again moved online.

The four Archbishops of Ireland written to the Taoiseach seeking a meeting on the matter saying that while they fully support the guidance of the public health authorities, they wish to "engage constructively with the civil authorities" to ensure that people can continue to gather for mass and the sacraments.

Bishop of Achonry Paul Dempsey says a huge voluntary effort has gone into allowing even a small number of people attend mass each week.

He says that he believes that services within churches haven't contributed to any rise in Covid 19 cases:
