The Bishop of Elphin claims no motive can ever justify the loss of life.
Kevin Doran was speaking as the families of two men murdered in Sligo this week are beginning preparations for their funerals in the coming days.
It's understood the bodies of Michael Snee and Aidan Moffitt have been released back to their families following post mortem exams which took place earlier this week.
Gardai are still investigating if the death of the men was motivated by hate or if the men met their attacker online.
Bishop Kevin Doran, who is based in Sligo, says the murders are incomprehensible and leaves people with many questions.
He also believes that anyone with any information on the murders has a moral obligation duty to share it with Gardai:
"There's no motive to justify what happened and therefore there is no motive to try to protect anybody out of a false sense of loyalty or a misplaced sense of something. This is something that needs to be resolved and we all have to be part of it."
