Bishop to host meeting on future of local dioceses this evening

Concern will be expressed at a meeting in Strokestown tonight that some churches will close if two dioceses amalgamate. Bishop Kevin Doran is holding a meeting in the Percy French Hotel at 7 o'clock this evening about the future of the Achonry and Elphin dioceses. It was announced in April the dioceses would "begin a process of leading towards a closer union" - and Bishop Doran now heads both of them.

Local councillor Tom Crosby is attending the meeting tonight and he says he will express his concerns.
