Blind Leitrim man urges public to stop and think about street hazards

A new campaign has been launched by the NCBI this week to make people more aware of hazards facing those with sight issues.

People living with visual impairments are urging the public in the Shannonside Northern Sound region to stop and think when it comes to their daily activities.

Parking on footpaths, leaving bins blocking routes and not cleaning up after their dogs are just some of the examples put forward by the NCBI as part of their Clear Our Paths Campaign.

The charity is are calling on the public to consider the effect their actions will have on those with a visual impairment.

According to the organisation, these obstacles can result in people with sight loss leaving the path to pass the blockage and putting them in danger from traffic or cyclists.
