A blind Longford woman, who is hoping to study at Trinity College this autumn, admits the uncertainty around Covid-19 is affecting all students.

Brazilian Vitoria Alves is due to begin her first semester at Trinity in the coming weeks where she will be studying social care - having arrived in Ireland at the age of seven with no English.

She has completed her studies up to now through Braille, and was in the middle of a gap year when the Covid pandemic struck in March.

Vitoria requires special mobility training to get used to the campus at Trinity and to help her feel more comfortable in the setting of the college - but speaking to the 'Remote but not Restricted' podcast  from Sight and Sound she explained that due to Ireland delaying moving to stage four of lifting restrictions it has hampered her preparations :
