An investigation is set to take place after blood was discovered in a shed at the home of Rooskey man Liam Farrell last night, Shannonside FM understands.
A garda forensic examination is set to take place later today, according to sources.
The shed is located at the back of the property, near where his body was found.
A garda spokesman said: "An Garda Síochána are carrying out enquiries following receipt of information from a third party.
"An Garda Síochána cannot provide any further information for operational reasons.
"Any person contacting An Garda Síochána does so in the expectation of privacy and confidentiality.
"An Garda Síochána respects the confidentiality of our engagements with private citizens."
Farrell, 87, died at his home in January 2020 and the family believes he was violently attacked.
An inquest delivered an open verdict in Carrick-on-Shannon earlier this month – meaning they couldn’t be satisfied with the cause and circumstances of his death. His medical cause of death was given as a heart attack.
His family are calling for a fresh investigation into his death. They are set to write to Garda Commissioner Drew Harris and Justice Minister Helen McEntee in relation to the issue.
