An East Galway community is unlikely to have its boil water notice lifted within the next few months.
Over 350 households in Eyrecourt are affected by the notice which was put in place on February 28th due to the detection of low levels of chlorine in the supply.
Irish Water say almost 800 metres of old cast iron pipes must be replaced on Main Street and Chapel Lane with this work scheduled to begin at the end of May.
However interim works which includes the flushing of water pipes on the network will start in the next two weeks and Irish Water representative Ronan Daly is hopeful the notice can be lifted before July.
