An Bord Pleanála has yet to decide on the development and extension of a Ballymahon dental surgery despite a decision due on the appeal since August 4th.
Longford County Council granted permisison for the development at the end of March and it was appealed by nearby residents in April.
Well known dentists Francis and Nim Rodrigues have been operating Excel Dental Ballymahon for over 12 years.
They were granted permission by Longford County Council for the demolition of an existing extension at the rear of their premises and the development of a new two storey extension instead; and also for the change of use of an adjacent single storey house.
The development would also include the development of a single storey extension to the back of the house, a link corridor between the two buildings and a carpark to the rear with entrance and exit via the access lane that runs around the nearby St Matthew's Park.
The plans were objected to by St Matthew's Park Residents Association.
Letters submitted to Longford County Council signed by 21 residents claim that access to the carpark via the lane would result in a dangerous increase in traffic, that there was never a right of way there for that site and that the car park may inadvertently provide a haven for drug pushers in the area.
The national planning authority was due to make a decision on the appeal by August 4th, however a spokesperson for An Bord Pleanála has confirmed that the case is still under consideration.
