Former Minister of State Kevin Boxer Moran says he still believes he has something to offer local politics and hopes to contest the next local election.
The Athlone native missed out on the vacant Westmeath seat to Paul Hogan yesterday on a margin of 6 votes to 12.
He said he was aware that there would be opposition to his name being on the ballot paper and believes yesterday's vote was a power grab.
However, the former OPW minister says he's not discouraged and has a hunger and desire now more than ever to represent the people of the region.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show Kevin Boxer Moran said his canvassing for the next election starts today.
