Kevin “Boxer” Moran, Robert Troy and Micheál Carrigy secured the final three places in the Longford-Westmeath constituency.
Moran, Troy and Carrigy will join Peter Burke and Sorca Clarke in the 34th Dail; after a count which ran in well after 3:30am on Monday morning.
Moran (ind) secured a return to Dail Eireann on count 14. The surplus of Sorca Clarke’s votes, brining Moran 135 votes over the quota.
A dramatic return for the former minister for state who lost his seat in the 2020 general election.
Whereas, Robert Troy (FF) secured the fourth seat on the 15th count after the exclusion of Independent Ireland’s Paul Hogan and distribution of his votes. Troy benefiting by 804 votes to exceed the quota.
Whereas, Micheál Carrigy (FG) will switch the Seanad for the Dáil Chamber at Leinster house, having seen off incumbent Joe Flaherty to the fifth and final seat.
Carrigy was elected having not made the quota with 9,208 votes, some 2,645 votes clear of Flaherty.
