A Boyle councillor is backing calls for the government to help build a much-needed hotel in the town.
Frank Feighan said the government could fund the development of a hotel - if an application was made by Roscommon County Council, a local co-op or town team.
The Fine Gael TD said it could then be leased to a private operator to run it.
The north Roscommon town has been without a hotel since the Royal Hotel closed over a decade ago.
Councillor Sean Moylan, who works in Boyle, welcomes Deputy Feighan's proposal.
