Boyle councillor confirms he won't contest next election

A Roscommon Fianna Fail councillor has announced he won’t be contesting the next local elections.

John Cummins from Boyle was first elected to the local authority in 1999.

He has the distinction of having topped the poll in all four local elections he contested.

The councillor is understood to have told members at a meeting of the Comhairle Ceantair last night that he won’t going forward again next time out.
