A Roscommon GAA club is providing a safe place for walkers following the launch of its 'Walk with Someone' campaign.
The initiative from Boyle GAA began this week after concerns over recent attacks on women across the country.
The club is inviting anyone who is uncomfortable walking alone to take part in its Buddy Up programme.
Club secretary Jan Flanagan says people can go together or on their own, knowing that GAA members have a presence on two evenings every week.
The leisure strolls take place on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7:45pm and all abilities are welcome to gather at the Church grounds.
Jan believes the initiative can be rolled out by other clubs in an effort to respond to the needs of the community.
