It's being reported that plans for a controversial wind farm in south Longford have been given planning permission by An Bord Pleanala.
The No to Derryadd group has posted on Facebook this morning that the plans for the multiple wind turbines have been given permission.
The application to erect 24 major wind turbines of 185 metres in height was officially made by Bord na Mona Powergen in January of 2019.
A three-day oral hearing was held in Longford town on the application in the early summer of last year which was addressed by Bord na Mona and the groups opposed to the project.
The opposition group says it is "very disappointing to receive confirmation from An Bord Pleanála this morning that the Derryadd Wind Farm is granted planning permission given the amount of evidence provided in relation to wildlife and the importance of rewetting these lands to deal with our national biodiversity emergency. Our next step is to review the report in detail and take the necessary steps.
