Leitrim County Council says the bridge over the regional road in the village of Ballinaglera has sustained some damage due to heavy rain and flash flooding on Monday evening last.
Some properties in the village were flooded on Monday when water swept across roads in the area.
The council has confirmed that roadside drainage channels burst their banks in the deluge due to the heavy vegetation present at this time of year.
It also says that while the gullies on the roads were clear of debris, the heavy bursts of rain caused the existing storm system to be severely overloaded.
The council says some local roads were eroded over the short period involved, and it will carry out necessary repairs to the public infrastructure.
