John O'Mahony's funeral in Ballaghaderreen has heard how he had always remained 'the lad from Magheraboy' despite his many public successes. Taoiseach Simon Harris, GAA President Jarlath Burns and Captain Paul O'Donnell representing President Michael D Higgins are among those in attendance. A number of gifts were brought to the altar symbolising John's life including a collection of GAA jerseys, a geography book, his Oireachtas card and a family photograph.
