An international voluntary organisation is seeking planning permission to develop its premises in Co. Roscommon.
Simon Beale and Associates have submitted an application to Roscommon County Council on behalf of Brothers of Charity Services.
The charity opened their first services in Ireland in 1883 and is currently the largest provider of services for people with an intellectual disability in the country.
Their submission proposes to convert the existing Hanly Hall building in Castlerea into day services or a micro enterprise/office space.
Hanly Hall was built in 1908 and originally served as a national school.
The application includes the renovation and extension of the now vacant building, as well as the construction of a new, two-storey detached community residential dwelling and site entrance.
Car parking, connection to public services and all associated site works are also included.
County planners have received the application and are due to make a decision shortly.
