Buccaneers RFC Club notes week-ending June seventh.
Buccaneers RFC mourns the recent passing of Dan O’Dowd. Dan was senior captain of Athlone Rugby Football Club for the seasons 1963/66, the first player to skipper the club for three years.
Sincere condolences are extended to his wife Emer, sons Shane and Alastair, and extended family. May he rest in eternal peace.
Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting of Buccaneers Rugby Football Club is currently scheduled to take place on Tuesday, June 30th at 8 p.m.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions the AGM will be held virtually on Microsoft Team App. All paid up members can participate and they should have received notification from the club at this stage.
If they wish to ‘attend virtually’, members should return their email address to [email protected] as soon as possible.
Nominations and/or Motions should be submitted to the club’s honorary Secretary Michael Cleary by Tuesday next June 16th.
Womens team seeking coach
Buccaneers Womens team are inviting applications for the role of Head Coach. The successful candidate should have previous experience with excellent organisational skills.
He/she should have the ability to develop a positive training environment with drive and ambition. Ideally the Head Coach can integrate and develop players from our U-18’s into the adult squad.
For further information, contact Buccaneers Womens team manager Sandra Feary at [email protected] or by mobile 086 167 0349.
The Bounty reopening
While at time of writing the IRFU has not yet advised date for return to rugby activity, hopefully, training will resume very soon.
Tag and Touch Rugby are likely to be the first codes of rugby to recommence so Buccaneers Tag Summer League may yet take place.
Recruitment and retention of players is ongoing under new Head Coach Kolo Kiripati. Meanwhile, some better news is that the restaurant at The Bounty is set to reopen on Monday, June 29th.
That will bring some normality around Dubarry Park and here’s looking forward to your support of the venue.
