The region has been subject to several break ins targeted at commercial premises in the past number of weeks.

The gang made off with tills and a large quantity of cigarettes during the break in at Mee's Daybreak in Knockcroghery this morning.

There was a burglary and an attempted break-in in two properties on the outskirts of Strokestown between 1pm and 3pm.

Gardaí say sums of money and items were taken in the course of both incidents.

Two masked individuals entered the premises on Earl Street in Longford Town on Sunday evening.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone with any information to contact Roscommon Garda Station on 090 6638300.

They are due to appear before Athlone District Court later this morning.

It's believed that one person is responsible for the theft of the equipment.
