The Bus Eireann service from Carrick on Shannon to Strokestown has been cancelled until further notice according to the transport body.
The route 468 service stopped at several locations in Roscommon including Elphin among other villages and townlands.
Locals had highlighted the cancellation of the service recently, with concerns raised of the effect it will have on those travelling to the towns from rural areas.
In a statement to Shannonside Fm News, Bus Eireann said they regret the inconvenience caused to customers, but the service was cancelled due to resource issues.
The transport company continued to say that the cancellation is temporary and it is hoped the route will re-open in the near future.
