Bus Eireann has confirmed that staffing issues resulted in two local bus services being unable to operate today.
Several commutes across the region, were very discommoded after the 8am Route 23 Sligo Dublin service and the 13.45 Dublin -Sligo expressway were unable to pick up any passengers.
In a statement to Shannonside FM Bus Eireann confirmed that today's Expressway Route 23 had to be cancelled due to staff absences.
They claim cancellation notices were placed on their website and on social media and that all customers who had pre-booked a ticket at expressway.ie were directly notified of the cancellation by email.
The company says Bus Éireann very much regrets the inconvenience caused to their customers as a result of these cancellations.
The company has issued the following statement:
The Expressway Route 23 Sligo to Dublin service operates in the region of 4,250 services each year and more than 99% of services operated as planned over the last 12 months. Some services during the last twelve months were cancelled due to staff absences, including Covid related absences, and operational issues including vehicle-related issues.
Unfortunately, today's Expressway Route 23 Sligo to Dublin service at 8.00am and the Route 23 Dublin to Sligo service at 13.45 had to be cancelled due to staff absences.
Cancellation notices were placed on our website and on social media. All customers who had pre-booked a ticket at expressway.ie were directly notified of the cancellation by email.
