A busy road in Longford will be completely closed to vehicles for the next two nights as road works continue. Battery Road will be shut from 7pm to 6am from today until Wednesday, from St Alban's to Lisbrack Road. Traffic will be diverted onto the N4 and the N63, but pedestrian access will be allowed.
It emerged last week that traffic disruption on Battery Road could continue until the end of the year, due to the resurfacing works. Former councillor Gerry Warnock, who lives in the town, says the issue is being blown out of proportion:
