Cabinet Ministers will sign off on the updated Climate Action Plan this afternoon.
It includes targets to reduce the number of car journeys, the amount of cattle in Ireland and to increase the number of electric vehicles being used.
The Finance Minister admits some of the measures in the Climate Action Plan will be an inconvenience to people.
The proposals which will see fewer on-street parking spaces and the number journeys cut by a fifth by 2030 will be discussed by cabinet later today.
It will also outline how emissions related to Agriculture and the construction of buildings will be reduced.
Finance Minister Michael McGrath says the plans are necessary to protect the local environment.
There will be measures in there that will inconvenience people and we are asking people to change their mindset.
It's not going to be easy , but having said that, I do think that black and white rules are something that we should avoid, there will be circumstances where parking space is required and is appropriate there will be circumstances where there isn't, fit for purpose public transport for example.
