A Ballinasloe councillor says it’s vital that landowners are properly consulted over the preferred route of a new cycle way between Athlone and Galway.
It was confirmed to public representatives this morning that out of five routes being considered, the Red Route 5 option has emerged as the preferred option, taking in Shannonbridge, Meelick and Ballinasloe among several other towns.
Further consultation will now take place on the route until the end of next January, but it’ll be online due to the continuing Covid pandemic.
Fianna Fail councillor Michael Connolly says he hopes that any talks with landowners will take place on a face-to-face basis this time around.
