A Longford Councillor is calling for a text alert system to be put in place to notify the local authority of the abuse of disabled parking bays.
Fianna Fáil Councillor David Cassidy raised the motion at the most recent meeting of Longford County Council.
It would allow motorists to inform traffic wardens of illegally parked vehicles in disabled parking spots in the town.

The proposal has received wide support across the chamber and the executive say they will explore options.
Speaking to Shannonside News, Cllr Cassidy says it would help to safeguard vulnerable road users.
