Calls are being made for the establishment of a major training centre for apprenticeships in Longford.
At this week's meeting of Longford County Council, councillor Martin Monaghan called for an apprenticeship centre of excellence to be set up in the town.
According to the Fianna Fail councillor, Longford's location in the centre of the country, it's transport links and the major investment projects beginning across the country make it the perfect choice for such a centre.
Cllr Monaghan is calling for the council to work with the Longford and Westmeath Education and Training Board and Solas to develop a training centre as soon as possible.
