There are calls for Ballaghaderreen's public realm enhancement works to take place at night - to prevent businesses being forced to close. The 4.5-million-euro project got under way last month and will take around 18 months to complete. The town will become more pedestrianised, with landscaped areas, and there will be a one-way system on some streets.
But some businesses are concerned at the level of disruption being caused during the works - with car parking spaces being lost. Local elections candidate, Micheál Frain, is calling for a solution:
