There are calls for the next government to prioritise a new school building for Scoil Mhuire in Carrick-on-Shannon. The national school's pupil numbers have almost doubled in the past 10 years, with almost 500 children currently enrolled.
The school is spread over two campuses, and some classes are held in prefabs and subdivided rooms. Ahead of tomorrow's general election, principal Caroline Healy is calling for the state to commit to the new school building.
