The HSE is being called on to carry out the necessary refurbishment works at St Patrick's Hospital in Carrick-on-Shannon to allow day care services re-open.
The appeal is being made by Ballinamore area councillor Caillian Ellis who says older people who used the service deserve to have it made available again.
The HSE has confirmed that day services at St Patrick's haven't re-opened since they closed in March of last year when Covid hit.
The health authority says the facility at St Patrick's isn't suitable for use and they have provided home support options for the 15 people who were attending there.
It adds that alternative day services can be accessed at Drumsna, Ballinaglera, and Carrigallen.
Councillor Ellis says he's been told the work needed to upgrade the St Patrick's facility is very minor, and the HSE should have it carried out for the good of the older people involved:
