There are calls for lengthy prison sentences to be handed out to others who were involved in Frank Kilbride's money-laundering case. The former Longford councillor and mayor was jailed yesterday for three years and three months for laundering over 2.6 million euro. He claimed he was under significant duress from criminals who were involved in the crime. Longford councillor Seamus Butler, from Fianna Fáil, says they should be brought to justice also - and given even tougher jail terms.
While the maximum prison sentence for money-laundering is 14 years, Barrister Morgan Shelley says many people get far less.
