A Ballaghadereen councillor is calling for safety measures to be installed on Pound Street in the town.
Councillor Michael Mulligan raised the issue at this month's meeting of Boyle MD and believes speed ramps are needed without delay.
However in a statement at the meeting officials from Roscommon County Council said the measure was a last resort due to effects of noise, damage to vehicles and concern of fire and ambulance personnel.
Councillor Mulligan says he's disappointed with the response and hopes it will be re-considered.
He believes a crash is waiting happen if measures are not put in place to force speed reduction.
