A Roscommon councillor says plans to re-open the west side of the Market Square in the county town must go-ahead as planned, despite some people's concerns on the issue.
The new look square has been a contentious issue for some people who feel it has led to traffic congestion in the town, but others would like to see the whole area remaining closed to traffic.
A meeting of Roscommon Municipal District this week was told that a one-way traffic system will be re-introduced in the coming weeks on the west side of the square, from 'Eight 'til Late' to the post office.
Parking will also be permitted for one hour in the area.
Local councillor Kathleen Shanagher says people were asked for their views on the plans under the Part 8 process back in 2019 and what was agreed back then has to be implemented now:
