Calls have been made to examine the possibility of developing a CCTV system in a number of north Longford towns.

He claimed that former garda Superintendent Brian Mohan and the current Superintendent Seamus Boyle were supportive of a CCTV system for the town but the M.D meeting was told that a sub-committee of the county's Joint Policing Committee could examine proposals or suggestions for a system in Granard, Drumlish, or Ballinalee but it would not be possible to include the item on the agenda for next Monday's JPC meeting.
