A Leitrim councillor is calling on the Minister to reverse a decision to close all walk-in services at Carrick-On-Shannon NDLS office.
People who want to renew their driver's licences must now access the service online, a measure which was initially brought in during the pandemic.
Councillor Mary Bohan is now demanding that the physical service be restored and believes this yet another example of facilities being taken away from the community.
A verified MyGovID account which requires a public services card is also needed to access the online service, however, the Manorhamilton native says this card should only be used for social welfare purposes.
Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound Councillor Bohan stated the downgrading of the office is totally unacceptable.
