Sligo/Leitrim Deputy Marian Harkin says clarity is still needed on the future of Sligo Airport and the air rescue service based there despite government assurances.
The Independent TD raised concerns in the Dail with the Tánaiste last week given the contents of a tender document for new operators for the service which stipulated a minimum of three bases instead of the present 4 which includes Sligo.
Minister of State Frank Feighan issued a statement this week confirming a cabinet decision that there will be four bases in total for air/sea rescue service, but Deputy Harkin says she wants to see Sligo named as one of the bases.
