The Chair of Longford County Council is calling for an urgent meeting with senior ESB staff to discuss power outages in the south Longford area this week.
Fine Gael councillor Paul Ross says the outages began around the same time on both Monday and Tuesday evening and caused disruptions for thousands of homes over the two evenings.
He says he's concerned that the problems appear to be connected to the sub-station in Edgeworthstown and that they could recur.
Local businesses have also been badly affected with Kiernan Milling in Granard stating that they were 16 hours behind on production as a result of the town outages at what is their busiest time of year.
Garage operator Keith Campbell who runs his business in Carrickboy says he's also been impacted and is concerned that the outages may continue to happen.
