Capacity limits facing local hospitals are causing mental and physical trauma to patients in the Shannonside region.
That's according to General Secretary of the Irish Hospitals Consultants Association, Martin Varley, who says patients cannot get answers on when their treatments will take place.
Hospitals across the country have cancelled most elective and day procedures due to an increase in hospitalisations with the onset of the Omicron wave.
The IHCA is calling on the government to publish the HSE's National Service Plan 2022 and to immediately work to provide more inpatient and day care beds.
