Residents in Carrick-on-Shannon are being encouraged to attend a public display today on the Carrick to Dromod by-pass scheme.
The event is taking place in the Landmark Hotel from 2 until 8 o' clock, today and tomorrow.
It follows the issuing of letters to several hundred householders around the town on Tuesday informing them that they are in a 300 metre wide corridor which runs along the preferred option for the by-pass.
The route chosen by ARUP Consultants involves built-up areas at Attitrory and Cortober and people there have been expressing worry at the proposals.
Carrick Fine Gael councillor Finola Armstrong Maguire says people who have concerns will get their best answers from the consultants in the Landmark over the next two days…
"They are very anxious to speak to the people who are within the preferred corridor that has now been outlined and those people who are affected have been sent letters.
The general public, of course, are welcome as well by asking questions and stating their case to the people who have done the consultancy they are the people to speak to, they are the people who are listening and are doing the drawings and who will do the final drawings. I would really encourage all people who are interested and have concerns to be there and have their conversation."
