A Castlerea councillor is acknowledging the good work of gardai in preventing crime in the community.
Three loaded guns were seized in the Roscommon town last night, as part of a gangland crime investigation.
It's after gardai stopped and searched a vehicle in Castlerea at about 8.30pm, on foot of intelligence.
A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of possession of unlawful firearms.
A small amount of heroin was later seized in Castlerea town after follow-up searches.
Local councillor Paschal Fitzmaurice says the community is safer as a result.
