Storm Eowyn caused a huge amount of damage to Castlerea Demesne.
Castlerea Towns Trust is appealing to people to stay out of the Demesne as many of the paths are covered in fallen trees.
All entrances to the Demesne have been closed to the public in the interests of the safety of all.
“Surveying the damage on Friday morning was truly heartbreaking,” said trust chairperson Liam Scahill.
“We will be assessing the damage over the coming days and weeks, which we estimate will run into thousands of euros, and working with all agencies to try and get our beautiful Demesne back open again for the public to enjoy,” he said.
As the clean-up operation in the wake of the storm continues and people throughout the Castlerea area and beyond remain without power, some without water and in some cases communications, Liam said the thoughts of the trust were with all those people.
“These are challenging times for everyone," he said.
"We thank all of those working around the clock to get our communities moving again and we assure them all of our support.
“We appeal to people to look out for each other, and we thank all those who have reached out to the trust in the wake of the damage to the Demesne.
“We again appeal to people to stay out of the Demesne until further notice. With bad weather forecast again for the coming days now is not the time, unfortunately, to be in the Demesne,” concluded Liam.
