A Roscommon doctor says parents shouldn't upset themselves unduly about reports of some severe hepatitis cases in children here.
Dr Greg Kelly was commenting following reports of some cases of severe hepatitis among children in recent months.
It's understood that six cases of the very rare condition have been diagnosed here, with more victims reported across Europe and other countries.
The condition has led to one death in Ireland and one child needing a liver transplant.
The Castlerea GP says parents can be vigilant for symptoms of the condition, and in particular should be aware of any appearance of jaundice.
He says though that very little is known as yet as to why these cases are happening.
