Castlerea native John Waters has been eliminated in the Midlands Northwest constituency in the European elections.
He was excluded after the 11th count, with 17,206 votes. Fellow Castlerea man, Luke 'Ming' Flanagan, is still leading the way, with almost 83,000 votes, and is on course to take one of the five seats. It also seems likely Fine Gael's Nina Carberry and Maria Walsh will be elected, along with Fianna Fáil's Barry Cowan.
The final seat looks like a battle between Ballyleague/Lanesboro man Ciaran Mullooly and Sinn Fein's Michelle Gildernew, with Mullooly currently leading her by over 12,500 votes.
