Preparations are underway in Castlerea to give boxer Aoife O'Rourke a hero's send off to the Paris Olympics. The three-time European champion will be making her second appearance at the Olympics with Team Ireland later this month. O'Rourke reached the round of 16 at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021where she was defeated by Qian Li of China.
Local councillor Paschal Fitzmaurice says the town will come out once again in support of the Tarmon native. He said he hopes a mural would also be completed this month:
