Locals had planned to march on Sunday calling for extra supports ahead of the arrival of International Protection applicants.

The protest which was planned to take place from the Arm Road area of Castlerea has now been suspended by organisers.

There have been a number of protests at the site this week following the news with a larger protest march planned for Sunday afternoon.

Those in attendance expressed anger with what they said was a lack of consultation with local residents and public representatives.

It follows speculation 52 asylum-seekers or refugees would be accommodated in 13 apartments in the town.

The Department of Integration has not yet responded to queries from politicians and media about the speculation.

The Grind in Castlerea says its last trading day will be this Saturday.
