A status yellow wind warning has been issued for six counties including Leitrim from this afternoon, followed by an orange warning on Friday and Saturday.

The alert comes into effect from 8pm tonight until 12 noon on Thursday.

Met Éireann warns that Storm Ashley will bring very strong to gale force and gusty south to southwest winds, coupled with high spring tides.
